Did you follow the #repeat trend while the entire world was locked down due to the COVID-19 outbreak? Didn’t get it? I hope you will get it after seeing the picture below-

I guess you’ve also posted several posters like this one on social media at any phase in your life. It’s really fun, isn’t it? But if you pause for a minute and observe the psychology behind it, I bet you’ll also get overwhelmed by it, as I got.

Whenever we utter the word REPEAT, a blurred image of a cycle appears somewhere in our SUBCONSCIOUS MIND. Because REPETITION is nothing but an undefined cycle, which goes on and on until some external source changes the parameters in it. Just like Newton’s 1st law. Our subconscious mind also works upon these repetitions, which we call HABITS. And the brand new ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE also works upon the same thing. It stores our choices and recommends us things relating to it, and once we REPEAT the same thing, we put the first step towards the trap it has laid for us and the rest becomes history.

Machine Learning is simply working on our behavior i.e what we repeat…

If you observe the NATURE closely, you’ll find subtle but extremely powerful management is there, and every single thing is balanced appropriately. But if you observe closer, you’ll find the CYCLE OF REPETITION there too. What would be your reaction if I say that the entire Universe runs on a well-managed cycle? The Rocks and Soil have their own cycles; the Water has its own cycle; the Fire has its own cycle; the Air has its own cycle; even the Sky has its own cycle. The living bodies also work on well-defined cycles.

The Rock Cycle is basically the formation of new rocks and diffusion of old ones…

Most importantly the SOUL also moves from body to body in a cycle depending upon some terms and conditions. So we can see the entire creation and existence lies upon the single word CYCLE, which is nothing but a formal representation of REPETITION. Hence it is so powerful.

The SOUL transmigrates from one body to another in an INFINITE CYCLE…

How many times have you read or heard about the famous quote stating, “ YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT”? Let me tell you that the actual quote should have been- “YOU ARE WHAT YOU REPEAT.” Because unless you repeat unhealthy food for a prolonged time, you will barely find extreme consequences in your body out of it. The most crucial fact about REPETITION is, the outcomes don’t become visible so quickly, but the patterns in the Subconscious Mind get imprinted every single time when we repeat a certain thing.

Since JIO has got launched in India, a revolution has been started in the MARKETING INDUSTRY. Wherever you land on social media you’ll always find some kind of ADVERTISEMENT is being played there for sure. Here comes the concept of REPETITION once again. What do you think, why a company invests so much money in marketing nowadays? It is because they want their brand names to be in front of our eyes all the time so that our eyes REPEATEDLY send a signal to the Subconscious Mind about it and there remains a strong pattern of that brand. Which will eventually force us to buy their products.

The Marketing Industry simply uses our behavioral patterns (what we REPEAT) against ourselves to brainwash ourselves for selling their products or services…

Since our childhood, we have been taught that PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT. Did you ever think, doesn’t PRACTICE also signify to REPETITION? Let’s suppose you are learning to play Mridanga (a drum-like instrument with two non-similar play-heads at both sides), you are practicing four hours a day the same TAAL (Rhythm) ‘te-re-khe-ta’ for almost a week. Isn’t it REPETITION?

The spiritual classic as well as the MANUAL OF LIFE, the BHAGAVAD GITA also supports that PRACTICE or REPETITION has tremendous power in it. In its Sixth chapter Verse no. 35 it states-

śrī-bhagavān uvāca
asaṁśayaṁ mahā-bāho
mano durnigrahaṁ calam
abhyāsena tu kaunteya
vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate

Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: O mighty-armed son of Kuntī, it is undoubtedly very difficult to curb the restless mind, but it is possible by suitable practice and by detachment.

Here Lord Krsna suggests Arjuna, his disciple to use the POWER OF PRACTICE/REPETITION to control the mind.

Also in the Twelfth chapter Verse no. 9 Lord Krsna states the same principle-

atha cittaṁ samādhātuṁ
na śaknoṣi mayi sthiram
abhyāsa-yogena tato
mām icchāptuṁ dhanañ-jaya

Hence it gets firm to believe that PRACTICE or REPETITION or ‘Abhyasa’ has tremendous power in it as it is sanctioned by the Supreme Personality of Godhead himself.

So, my friends whatever aspect you pick out, you’ll find a common thing called REPETITION holding all the things as the thread holds the beads in a necklace. This is the POWER OF REPETITION.

WE BECOME WHAT WE REPEAT…

Now you will say, “Hey man! I knew all of these already. Why did you REPEAT the same things?” Yes, I wanted you to REPEAT all the facts once more so that you can understand the tremendous power lying beneath it.

Now as we know the fact, how to use it in our day-to-day lives to enhance it using the power? Here comes the concept of ASSOCIATION. I think you have heard the famous quote ‘YOU ARE THE AVERAGE OF THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU ASSOCIATE WITH.’ The Positive association will provide us positive things to repeat, and the Negative ones will provide us the opposite. And another fun fact is OUR BRAIN CANNOT DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN THESE TWO. It is INTELLIGENCE which does the job. So via intelligence, we have to TRAIN OUR BRAIN NOT TO BECOME A DRAIN by always being surrounded by Positive people and environment and REPEATING THE POSITIVE THINGS CONTINUOUSLY
